Dashiel Reed is a composer for media and educator born in Santa Cruz, California.

Dashiel attended the University of the Pacific where he received degrees in composition and piano performance.  In 2012 he attended the esteemed Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program at the University of Southern California, where he studied all facets of the film scoring process.  Through the program, Dashiel met and collaborated with many industry professionals, composers, and directors.  In 2013 he was fortunate to be the sole student mentored by Emmy- and Grammy-winning composer Thomas Newman, and continues to collaborate with him.

After graduating, Dashiel assisted acclaimed composers John Frizzell (CBS' Stalker, FOX's The Following) and Clinton Shorter (CBS' Code Black, USA's Colony, SyFy's The Expanse, ABC's Quantico) providing orchestration and score arrangement.

Since 2018, Dashiel has been an instructor at the University of the Pacific, teaching Introduction to Music Technology, Introduction to Orchestration, and Music Sound and Film.

In between orchestrating and working with university students, Dashiel maintains a small private piano studio and works with Opera Modesto as a teacher and collaborative pianist.
